Drug use, trauma, rehabilitation and desistance; qualitative methods

Gisella joined PenARC in January 2022. She is an anthropologist with a longstanding interest in issues to do with drug use, trauma, rehabilitation and desistance and has previously taken time out from academia to set up and run a drug rehabilitation programme for street children in the northeast of Brazil.

Gisella is currently working as part of the evaluation team on the Kailo prevention project. Kailo takes a systemic approach to address the underlying drivers of young people’s mental health.
