At the recent Qualitative Research Forum that took place on the 9th July 2025, Dr Noreen Orr delivered an insightful talk on using creative methods to disseminate research findings. Drawing from a range of innovative projects, she highlighted the value of going beyond traditional academic outputs to reach broader and more diverse audiences.
Through case studies such as MOVE – a photographic exhibition at Eden Project Café in September 2012 and Moving Stories: A Short Film, a film and theatre initiative, and Pet Purrsuit – a board game developed from pet therapy research, Dr Orr demonstrated how creative formats can make research more accessible, memorable, and impactful.
She also shared practical lessons on building partnerships, adapting to different audiences, and the importance of planning, funding, and ethics when engaging in creative dissemination.
This talk reminds us that how we communicate research matters – and that creativity can bridge the gap between evidence and engagement.
