Biography

Chris is the Director of Operations for the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration for the South West Peninsula (PenARC), based at the University of Exeter, and is responsible for supporting world-leading health and social care research in the South West of England.

A former commissioned officer in the Army Medical Services, Chris has been a registered general nurse for over 35 years. He began his career in clinical care and military operations, specialising in adult critical care before transitioning to strategic roles in emergency preparedness and response. Having gained experience in the NHS, British Army, Health Protection Agency, RNLI, and as Head of Innovation and Strategy for a Local Resilience Forum, he has played a key role in designing and embedding specialist response teams, operations rooms, and multiagency collaboration initiatives.
