Dr. Farina’s research focuses on ensuring that people with dementia live well and receive proper support. He is an expert in dementia stigma and has explored attitudes and behaviors internationally, including contributions to the influential World Alzheimer’s Report. Currently, he is the Principal Investigator for the RadioMe study, which uses technology to detect agitation in people with dementia and employs relaxing music to alleviate episodes. Dr. Farina has strong ties with local NHS trusts and is collaborating with the Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust to establish a Dementia Advisory Group for Research, particularly tailored to those living in rural communities in Cornwall. Dr Farina is the lead for Early Career Researchers of the SPIN-D Dementia Network + and is Plymouth lead for the I-Care Doctoral Training Centre.
