Education and Wellbeing
Karen’s research focusses on the education and wellbeing of health professionals and the wider healthcare workforce. She puts her research into practice through a range of educational roles, from supporting the development of innovative new degree programmes, to supervising and mentoring PhD students and early career (clinical) academics. She leads the Health Professions Education & Wellbeing research group at Exeter, which exists to support the local and national implementation of the workforce strategies, especially those focussing on the training and retention of healthcare staff. She is President of the Association for the Study of Medical Education, member of the NIHR HSDR Funding Committee and has held editorial roles with Medical Education and The Clinical Teacher.
