“Do you have an idea (even a half-formed idea) about research on ageing? Would an opportunity to have an informal chat with a public partner who can bring lived experience and fresh perspectives help?”
If the answer is yes, Professor Vicki Goodwin MBE is facilitating free online sessions.
The initiative has been made possible through funding from the Vivensa Foundation’s Senior Leader Academy Excellence Award. It offers informal online sessions where researchers can discuss emerging concepts with public partners, gaining valuable insight from lived experience.
The café provides a supportive space for sharing ideas at any stage of development, with no slides or formal presentations required. Instead, participants are encouraged to explore and shape their thinking through open conversation, helping to ensure research is relevant, inclusive and grounded in real-world perspectives.
Naomi Morley is supporting the delivery of the sessions, helping to facilitate discussions and foster collaboration between researchers and members of the public.
Each session lasts around 45 minutes and is designed to strengthen the co-production of ageing research from the earliest stages, while building confidence and connections across the research community.
Delivered in partnership with the Vivensa Foundation and the University of Exeter, the Ageing Research Café forms part of ongoing efforts to improve how research into ageing is developed, ensuring it reflects the needs and experiences of the people it aims to benefit.
