What is SWAIH?
With the release of the Goldacre Review in April 2022 and £13.5m funding offered to support development of regional Trusted Research Environments (TREs) SWAIH was created to provide an important and timely forum to better understand and debate recent developments and also share knowledge and expertise from across the region.
SWAIH is a network that hosts meetings, workshops and online talks for people working with healthcare data for research in the South West.
What will SWAIH do?
SWAIH will share and promote existing resources and training across the South West, as well as listen to the needs of the region, to deliver targeted events and develop novel resources and training to help develop the South West as a leading region in the UK for the use of healthcare data for research.
SWAIH is generously funded and supported by the Applied Research Collaboration South West Peninsula (PenARC), Exeter’s Biomedical Research Centre, HDR UK and the Great Western Secure Data Environment.
SWAIH Annual Event 2023
In July 2023 SWAIH was launched with an in person event held at Sandy Park. This event brought together over 150 people from over 50 organisations to discuss how the region can respond collectively, to develop shared plans that will improve the efficiency and impact of research and maximise benefits for patients.
