Right evidence. Right time. Right place.
PenARC Knowledge Mobilisation Fellowships are now open to applicants.
Our Fellowships are designed to give you the skills to promote meaningful change in your service, informed by research evidence. These Fellowships are fully funded and offered on a flexible part-time basis to suit your needs.
What does a PenARC Knowledge Mobilisation Fellowship involve?
During this Fellowship you’ll access training in applying research evidence, tailored to your needs, and work alongside passionate researchers.
You’ll explore an important problem faced by your organisation, identify appropriate evidence, develop implementation skills, and help implement potential solutions.
You’ll also have the opportunity to meet other Fellows and build connections locally and nationally.
Given the complexity of health and care services, we anticipate no two Fellowships will look the same and will tailor the expertise, training, and support to your own specific needs.
Who can apply for a PenARC Knowledge Mobilisation Fellowship?
These Fellowships are open to health and care practitioners and managers in Cornwall, Devon and Somerset (the region covered by PenARC), including people employed in the NHS, Local Authorities and third sector organisations.
Applicants will be expected to have a service need or issue in mind and have the support of their managers. This is to both support your time commitment and to enable you to enact and measure change in your service successfully.
We welcome passionate individuals and do not expect you to have previous research experience or specific qualifications.
What is the time commitment of a PenARC Knowledge Mobilisation Fellowship?
We appreciate the pressures and complexities of working within health and care services, as well as maintaining a healthy balance between work and your personal life.
These Fellowships are offered on a flexible part-time basis. We anticipate each Fellow committing 1-3 days per week, with the Fellowship lasting approximately 12-36 months.
Depending on the focus of your Fellowship, you will be able to complete the bulk of your work from your workplace or working from home. Some training and meetings are likely to be face-to-face and will require travel to Exeter.
How is the PenARC Knowledge Mobilisation Fellowship funded?
These Fellowships are free and fully funded by PenARC. The Fellowship is free to both you and your organisation.
We will agree the amount of time you will spend on your Fellowship and we will reimburse your organisation for this time.
What is PenARC?
Generally referred to as ‘PenARC’ our full title is National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Applied Research Collaboration South West Peninsula. The NIHR is funded by the Department of Health and Social Care.
We work with local partners across Cornwall, Devon and Somerset to support research that responds to and meets the needs of, local populations and local health and care systems.
One way we achieve this is by building research capacity and experience in local services.
