This Sport England funded project, being delivered by EDP Drug and Alcohol Services in partnership with Devon Wildlife Trust and Active Devon over 3 years, aims to support 140 people in their alcohol and drug use recovery journey by providing opportunities as volunteers in natural environments.
People who take part in the programme are supported with training and opportunities to become activity leaders in a variety of natural settings, and then as activity leaders to engage people who may be earlier on in their recovery journey in physically active opportunities in natural environments to aid in their recovery.
The local evaluation (led by Dr Tom Thompson) will compile case studies and examine the effective (and less effective) components of the programme to illustrate what works for who, how, and why.
