Biography

Cathy has a background in clinical medicine, with many years of experience as a general practitioner. She completed a PhD in medical studies researching awareness in people with mild-to-moderate dementia, working with the Research in Ageing and Cognitive Health (REACH) team and contributing to the IDEAL study of living well with dementia.

As a post-doctoral research fellow, she has continued this work with the REACH team looking at awareness of condition in people with dementia in association with aspects of dyadic relationships.

Ongoing work will explore ways of supporting people with dementia when there are difficulties with awareness, to support carers and facilitate health and social care interactions.
