Biography

I joined PenCLAHRC in March 2014 as a quantitative Senior Research Fellow. My research interests are children’s mental health and the interventions and services developed to respond to or prevent health and developmental difficulties. To date, I have led randomised controlled trials of two parenting interventions, a school-based social emotional learning programme, as well as a mentoring programme for anti-social young people. I have also worked with partner agencies to design new children’s services and develop existing interventions to respond to particular needs or target groups. I have been particularly interested in children exposed to family violence. My focus within PenCLAHRC will be on building links with (mental) health networks and agencies across the South West, to answer pressing questions from the frontline and to build research capacity. I am also an Associate of the Social Research Unit at Dartington, assisting them with the design and implementation of five randomised trials evaluating interventions designed to reduce pathways for young people into antisocial behaviour and criminal justice.
