Biography

I am a Senior Lecturer in Public Health in the University of Exeter’s College of Medicine and Health. I used to work as a Consultant in Public Health for Devon County Council but in 2016 I took up my current role. From 2014 to 2017 I was an NIHR Knowledge Mobilisation Research Fellow.

I study knowledge mobilisation and implementation science and look at how people use (or do not use) different types of knowledge in different settings. This includes healthcare organisations, care homes and nursing homes for older people, and voluntary-sector organisations. Much of my work involves older people and especially those who are frail, those whose lives are affected by dementia, and those who provide services or care for older people. I use both qualitative and quantitative methods and am interested in theories and philosophies of knowledge and knowledge use.
