Evidence Synthesis, Health Services Research

Biography

I joined PenCLAHRC in August 2009. I am part of the Evidence Synthesis Team that helps to manage the PenARC question prioritisation process and conducts systematic reviews for relevant questions identified from this process. My main areas of interest include improving healthcare for patients and the NHS, the mental health and behaviour of children and young people, Dementia and more recently the support of parents going through neonatal care. I am also interested in the ways research can be communicated better for various audiences.

As part of the team I help to run systematic review clinics for those working on their own systematic reviews, and deliver teaching in this area. My main skills are focused on the conduct of systematic reviews in health services research. However, I have also been involved with setting research agendas. The reviews we conduct aim to work with clinicians and service users to answer the questions most relevant to them and their practices and to help bridge the gap between research and practice.
