Evidence Synthesis

Biography

I have been part of the Evidence Synthesis Team within PenARC since 2009 where I am involved in producing systematic reviews to inform locally relevant evidence based practice. The Evidence Synthesis Team also plays an integral role in the identification and prioritisation of research projects for development within the South West peninsula.

I graduated with an honours degree in Pharmacology from the University of Leeds in 1992 and from 1993 to 1997 was employed as a research assistant in a large respiratory medicine department at a teaching hospital in Nottingham. I was involved in the design and conduct of clinical trials (phase I to IV) in patients with asthma and healthy volunteers. I gained my PhD in 1998. I then spent three years as a Research Fellow in Complementary Medicine performing systematic reviews of the safety and effectiveness of herbal medicines before joining PenTAG in 2004. Whilst with PenTAG, I was involved with producing Technology Assessment Reports for NICE and the HTA Programme for approximately five years.
