Obi has been a medical statistician since 1995. He the statistical lead in PenARC and teaches on its Making Sense of Evidence workshops.
His main area of methodological interest is the design and conduct of cluster randomised controlled trials. He has contributed to multidisciplinary research on improving child mental health and wellbeing and the provision of primary/community care. His ongoing collaborations include a Wellcome Trust funded cross-national trial of an online support intervention for child anxiety problems (led by Professor Cathy Creswell, University of Oxford) and an NIHR HTA-funded trial of the effectiveness of oral nutritional supplements in older adults with malnutrition in the care home setting (led by Professor Mary Hickson, University of Plymouth). He is the senior statistician in the Oxford Centre for Emerging Minds Research led Professor Cathy Creswell.
He is a panel member for the NIHR Programme Grants for Applied Research (PGfAR) funding scheme and statistical advisor to and member of the editorial board for the British Journal of General Practice and BJGP Open.
